What is an AC Vacuum Contactor?
The alternating current vacuum contactor (AC vacuum contactor) is a kind of on-off switch used in an AC power supply environment, which is widely used in various control circuits at present.
What’s the difference Between Vacuum Contactor and vacuum circuit breaker?
Compared to vacuum circuit breakers, vacuum contactors are smaller in size, it’s safer for higher voltages above 660Vs. Vacuum contactors offer lower current chopping and are well suited for applications with frequent switching. And the product cost is also lower than vacuum circuit breaker.
What’s the difference between electric holding and mechanical holding?
Mechanical holding has a mechnical lock more than electric holding.
Without mechanical locking, it will be electric holding(electrical latching).
Mechanical holding is used in places with infrequent operations, and electrical holding is used in places with frequent operations.
If the customer wants to use it under frequent operation, it cannot use mechanical lock, otherwise it will not be locked.
All in all, If the vacuum contactor will be operateed frequently, customer should choose electric holding (without mechanical lock).
If the vacuum contactor will be operated infrequently, customer should choose mechanical holding.
The role of high-voltage vacuum contactor
The function of the high-voltage vacuum contactor is similar to that of a vacuum circuit breaker, which also connects and disconnects the circuit in the circuit. It is a simplified version of the vacuum circuit breaker, with limited arc breaking capacity, and cannot break the short-circuit current.
However, it can frequently switch on and off small currents. High-voltage vacuum contactors are used in occasions where there is no protection but only operations. It is mainly used for capacitor bank control with high-voltage frequent switching, high-voltage electric arc furnace control, high-voltage motor control, etc.
